Matthew

Hey All,
So, I have a prayer request. Many of the dads and sons in our church went camping this weekend. Well, last night, one of the boys, Matthew, was bitten on the ankle by a copperhead snake. He was taken away on a helicopter to Children's Mercy Hospital. Currently, he is still there and is going to be staying there at least overnight. As of right now, he is not doing very good. So, if you could be praying for this young man and his family, I know that they would really appreciate it.

~Matthew,
It has been a joy growing up with you. It is amazing to see you continually growing in your walk with God. I hope that you get well soon and know that we are praying for you constantly. I love you, Brother!!!

Eternal Life

When your young, life seems long. But you'll soon find out once you're out of school for five, ten, twenty years that life is short and you'll know what the Bible means when it says that life is "a mist that appears for a little while then vanishes." (James 4:14 NIV)We can be thankful that this is not he end of the story. God has promised us eternal life to those who give their earthly lives to him. That is a great trade!

"Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on him the Father, God, has sent his zeal." JOHN 6:27 NASB

"The world is passing away, and also it lusts; but the one who does the will of the Lord will live forever. 1 JOHN 2:17 NASB

"For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens."
2 CORINTHIANS 5:1 NKJV

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has eternal life."
JOHN 6:47 NASB

When you were born, you cried while everyone was happy.
The only question that matters is this:
When you die,
will you be happy when everyone else is crying?

This was my devotion this morning from the book Light My Path For Teens. This will be my last post for a while. I am going on a vacation for seventeen days! I will be going to Seattle, Washington for a few days, then go to one of the islands off of the state. The island we will be on is called Lopez Island. Also if you could be praying for my grandma, she just got in a car accident about twenty minutes ago. It was not her fault, though. She was going to drive through a green light when a man decided to make a left hand turn in front of her. My grandma is okay, but the man was hurt. I don't know how serously he was injured. She had to call a tow truck to come and get her van, so I guess it is pretty beat up. This is Vivian H. signing off for two and a half weeks. BEACH HERE I COME!

Pray For the Chapman's

I found out this morning that Steven Curtis Chapman's five year old daughter, Maria, was hit by a car and killed. The care was driven by her older brother, who, apparently, did not see her. Click here for more info. Please pray for the Chapman family especially Maria's older brother.

Brain Surgery

I am going to pause in my vacation pictures for a bit, but no worries, I will pick it back up...
As some of you know my grandpa (Pop) had brain surgery yesterday. All went well, actually very well. He had brain surgery because he has (or had) what is called "trigeminal nurasia" were a vein is on top of one of the main nerves in your face. So, the vein eventually wares away at the covering of the nerve. That makes it so that every once in a while, the nerve sends pain messages to the brain. Over the past couple of years, this pain has gotten worse and more frequent. So, he had brain surgery. He was in surgery for three and a half hours. They found that not one but two veins were on his nerve. They were successfully moved away and he is now in recovery. Here are some pictures of Pop.
The smaller boy is Pop.

This is me and Pop watching a TV show together.

Also, keep Elisabeth's family in mind. They are going through a very difficult time, as it appears that her grandfather is coming to the end of his life. So, please pray for them.
Elisabeth~
Know that we love you and we are praying for you daily. But more importantly, He is with all of the time and He will be your comfort. L.Y.L.A.S.

Volcanoes and Goodbye...

Tomorrow, my family and I will be going to a little town in central Kansas called Geneseo. We are going for my great-grandpa Glen's burial service. All my cousins on my mom's side are coming (All 4 of them :D) also my aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, great-grandma, great-uncle, great-great-uncle and some of his reletives. So, really, it is a really big family reunion. All that to say, I will be gone Friday thru Monday afternoon. I am bringing my camera, so hopefully I will have some pictures for you when I get back.

P.S. I have been doing papers on volcanoes and in the process, I found this really cool picture. (It lookes even cooler close up.)

P.S.S
If you could be praying for us while we are gone, I would really appriciate it. Thanks :)

Great-Grandpa Glen

Hey y'all! So, for those of you who do not know already, my mom is in Seattle, Washington with my Grandma Carol, Uncle Gary, Great-Grandma Ethel, and my Great-Grandpa Glen. My Grandpa Glen is very ill and may be near to meeting his Savior. Grandpa is 92 and was very healthy and fit up until about a year ago. He stopped hiking two years ago when he turned 90. It's no joke! Grandpa is a survivor of cancer several times over and he has had his eye whacked with the back of a hammer(Ouch!). He has gone through many things in his life and now he is just starting to go downhill. But, he is a firm believer in Christ, so that gives us hope and real comfort. So, if you could be praying for my family and I as we go through this difficult time, I would really appreciate it. Soon, my grandpa will be in a place where His enduring promise is ever-present... No tears...

Prayer Request

Hey all! As most of you know, our dear friend Catherine, has been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. I wish there were more that I could do for her, but the thing that will bless them the most is for us to lift her up in prayer. Catherine is a wonderful young woman, and has made such an impact on my life. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we are all so very grateful to God for her. I just pray that God will be with her in this hard time. And I know that He will be. He knew that this was going to happen even before the beginning of time. She is fearfully and wonderfully made. Even though it is hard to imagine, He loves her a million times more than we do. Nothing can happen to her outside God's power. I believe that He will draw her even closer to himself through these difficult times.

Thanks For Your Prayers

Hey all. Thank you for you prayers. I sure felt God with me today. Well, all is fine. It hurt a little more than I excpected, but I'm fine. The lady in the picture is Kathy. She is the one that took care of me during those four hours. I feel pretty good except, I got some medication that makes me tired. Once again, thank you for your prayers and I will see you all Sunday!

Prayer Request

Hey guys. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been sick with the stomach virus and I am just recovering. I have a prayer request... This Wednesday, I will be starting an I.V. medication called Remicade. This is one of those things where you go in, and they stick a needle in you and it drips the medication in for a few hours. So if you could be praying for me on Wednesday at 10 o'clock (in the morning of course) that would be great. I miss you guys a lot. Some of you, I will see on Wednesday night for choir, and others I will see on Sunday at church. (Which BTW, those of you doing choir, make sure you come to the last real practice on Sunday afternoon, 2:00 SHARP! :) See y'all when I see ya!
