Brain Surgery

I am going to pause in my vacation pictures for a bit, but no worries, I will pick it back up...
As some of you know my grandpa (Pop) had brain surgery yesterday. All went well, actually very well. He had brain surgery because he has (or had) what is called "trigeminal nurasia" were a vein is on top of one of the main nerves in your face. So, the vein eventually wares away at the covering of the nerve. That makes it so that every once in a while, the nerve sends pain messages to the brain. Over the past couple of years, this pain has gotten worse and more frequent. So, he had brain surgery. He was in surgery for three and a half hours. They found that not one but two veins were on his nerve. They were successfully moved away and he is now in recovery. Here are some pictures of Pop.

Also, keep Elisabeth's family in mind. They are going through a very difficult time, as it appears that her grandfather is coming to the end of his life. So, please pray for them.

Geneseo- Day One

Yeah, I know, it is a little late, but here it is anyway. We had a very good time. I got to meet some relatives that I didn't know I had, and some that I had not seen in a very long time. Here is the first day of our trip...

Now, at this point of our trip, we had already checked into a hotel, and we were heading to the house of my great-grandma Ethel's old friend, Lolita. But, unfortunately, we got turned around... Turned around so much so, that right when we left the motel parking lot, we went the wrong way... I got some good pictures from it though!








A little while after, we figured out that we were going the wrong way and we turned around and got were we needed to be.

We had a great time. Over the next few days I will post different things for each of the days we were gone. (Or until my pictures run out...)

Volcanoes and Goodbye...

Tomorrow, my family and I will be going to a little town in central Kansas called Geneseo. We are going for my great-grandpa Glen's burial service. All my cousins on my mom's side are coming (All 4 of them :D) also my aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, great-grandma, great-uncle, great-great-uncle and some of his reletives. So, really, it is a really big family reunion. All that to say, I will be gone Friday thru Monday afternoon. I am bringing my camera, so hopefully I will have some pictures for you when I get back.

P.S. I have been doing papers on volcanoes and in the process, I found this really cool picture. (It lookes even cooler close up.)

Freak Storm

Today we had a freak storm. I was downstairs in our basement, when I heard my mom calling me. So, naturally, I ran upstairs to see what she wanted. I look outside and... It was hailing! Just a little bigger than pea sized hail was coming down just as fast as you would see rain pouring from the sky. (It was actually more like Sonic ice sized hail:) Then, over the next twenty minutes, it would stop and than start back up. And then stop and start again. What was really weird was that on either side of our house was a beautiful blue sky. But directly above us was dark and dreary and grey. *sigh* All this to say that after the storm past, the clouds were amazing. It always brings me back to the Creator when I see such a scene.
